Wound-Care-Specific EHR Developed for National Network of Facilities and Physicians

On April 28, wound care management services provider Diversified Clinical Services (DCS) and Allscripts announced a collaboration that integrates a wound-care-specific EHR into a clinical productivity solution being developed for use by DCS' network of over 325 hospitals and 2,600 physicians.

DCS’ new i-heal 2.0 includes Allscripts certified EHR and practice management software customized for wound care, as well as wound-care-specific clinical decision support, clinical algorithms and workflow, and outcomes tracking and quality reporting.
DCS said i-heal 2.0 “will allow secure and efficient connectivity between Wound Care Centers in [the company’s network] and virtually all hospital-based EHR systems.” In addition, the system meets meaningful-use provisions for Medicare and Medicaid providers seeking to qualify for EHR incentive payments under the HITECH Act.
DCS CEO Jeff Nelson explained that the integration of the EHR/practice management system with outcomes tracking and benchmarking capabilities will dramatically increase the quantity and quality of information facilities can gather on the effectiveness of different wound-healing approaches.
"This will help us accelerate the pace of improvement in both the quality of care and cost-effectiveness of treating the over seven million Americans suffering from chronic wounds today,” said Nelson. “We chose to partner with Allscripts, not only because of the success they've had enhancing the quality of care and removing costs for 180,000 physicians, but also for their ability to connect with all major inpatient EHR systems used in hospitals nationwide."
Dell will host the Allscripts EHR and Practice Management solution for DCS using a secure datacenter, simplifying the technical configuration required at the Wound Care Centers and ensuring 24/7 enterprise-level support and information security.

It seems that you overlooked

It seems that you overlooked one company that for the past 4 years has had a total diabetic wound care program up and running. If you would like to take advantage of this program which has been tried and tested for 3 years please let us know and we will be more than willing to show you exactly what it consists of. Also note that all the ICD9/10 and CPT codes are associated with the program making billing 100% easier for the physician. Oh the name of the company SAFE GUARD MEDI-SYSTEMS CORP/KEY2LIFE... contact Norman Eisenberg or Dr. James Joy at K2L@sgmscorp.com.

Thanks to Norman Eisenberg

Thanks to Norman Eisenberg for pointing out the capabilities of his company's diabetic wound-care program. Here is some additional information Norman passed along to readers of EHRWatch via letter to the editor: "On another note we have just returned from Mexico City, Durango to be exact, where we met with the president, the Children’s Hospital Executives, various physicians and several benefactors of the hospital to look over our 100% Portable USB  EMR Medi-Bracelet Medi-Chip, which contains our proprietary database program and patient management system all contained in the Medi-Chip and never online.  This program is being used in pain clinics in the U.S. and sf featured in Australia, and soon to be employed in the Netherlands.    "Since the hospital for the children is government-run, to say they need help is an understatement. They do not even have a computer in the hospital and the X-ray equipment they are using is a 25-year-old portable unit. We felt so strongly about helping them that we are donating 10 laptops and providing them with 10,000 of our Medi-Band Medi-Chips at our dead cost.   "Their plight first came to light when one our distributors  was asked if he thought our company could help the children’s hospital. And without hesitation we said yes, because we believe that the children, no matter where they are, need our support and help especially when they can’t afford it or fend for themselves. We thought you would like to know that there are still some good guys out there and we stand at the ready to help anyone that needs our support."
